Breaking bread and sharing it with other people is a very human way of showing, rather saying, that you care about other people. I thought that really would do well as a title for this blog. I'm sure it's been used elsewhere but that's okay too.
It is pretty lofty a title to call myself an amateur baker but I like to bake bread and I'm still learning all the time about the process. I started baking my own breads really because I don't like the sugary taste of most commercial breads where I live, so I'd much rather bake my own. Then I started having fun and I found it therapeutic, so I've been working on expanding my horizons and collecting new recipes.
Last night, for example, I figured out that I'm probably too aggressive with mixing my quick breads. That's why they turn into glue and/or fall apart in my bread pans. Hah! No, I don't have a mixer, yes, that's with doing it by hand. My friends know me far too well it seems.
I have friends who will be writing guest blogs on occasion as well about what they've been baking and such. For my own posts, I will try to include photos, even the 'this didn't work right' ones, and I might be talked into videos / vlogs, although I'm not sure how much everyone cares about any of that.
Right now, I've got some photos to process for my simple white yeast bread blog post over the next few days, so look for that soon.
Thanks for stopping by. If you've got any suggestions for recipes you'd like me to try, send them my way!
